Natural Gas Safety

Energy Saving Tips

When it’s taken from the ground, natural gas is tasteless, colorless and odorless.  To make it easier to detect, a harmless but strong-smelling odorant is added.  If you ever smell this “rotten egg-like” odor, it may mean there is a gas leak.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS:

  • Do not smoke.  Do not use lighters or matches.

  • Do not turn on/off any switches or appliances.

  • Our personnel are available 24 hours a day to respond to any emergency call.

CALL BEFORE YOU DIG

Gas lines are located underground and out of sight.  If you are excavating in your own yard or for a commercial project, you should call your local line locating assistance service.  By using this free service, you can avoid costly damage, possible injury and/or service interruption.
